Job description Job responsibilities See attached Job Description but in addition, the Unit Manager will act as a Work Stream lead in The Pre-Op Improvement Group and will take lead role in the Pre-op Working group with the Pre-op Clinical Lead and Unit Matron.Professional and Clinical Issues 1.
Be accountable and responsible for maintaining own professional practice.
The post-holder will be able to underpin applied theoretical knowledge to practice utilizing analytical and judgmental skillsin a variety of situations to determine direct patient care.

To be responsible for the delivery of patient centered care.
Maintaining own specialist knowledge and clinical skills within the field of Orthopaedics, participating in direct patient care and uphold evidence for professional revalidation as required by the postholders professional body.

To be competent in clinical skills, including enhanced practice relevant to the clinical area.
4.
Take the lead role in the provision of clinical and professional advice, expertise and support.
Lead in the process of developing practice and monitoring performance.
5.
Keep abreast of current political issues within the NHS, and future nursing trends.
6.
Ensure that accurate records are kept of all care given in the Department.
7.
To provide professional and clinical leadership to support the development of clinical practice.
8.
Ensure a patient / client-focused approach to care.
9.
Ensure due regard is given to the customs, values and spiritual beliefs of the patient family, Carers and staff.

Takes the lead role in assessing and ensuring that patients are correctly prepared for their operation/procedure for their operation/procedure including the monitoring of care standards through audit and other activities.

Provision of patient care which requires the use physical effort to roll, maneuver and stand patients.
The use of manual handling equipment / training is essential, to reduce physical strain and maintain safety of the patient.
Annual manual handling training is mandatory.
15.
To develop and implement departmental policies and Participate in a yearly appraisal with the Matron, setting personal objectives for own professional development plan.
17.
Attend yearly statutory training to ensure adherence to Trust policy and current legislation.
18.
Attend relevant in-house training sessions which is pertinent to own clinical practice, to enhance knowledge and skill, maintaining competencies.
19.
Provide leadership in managing the changes required of the service to meet with the GIRFT equirements for Pre-op assessment.
