Job summary An exciting opportunity is now available to support in the delivery of the Pre-Assessment service for the new Central Hampshire Elective Orthopaedic Hub, located on the Royal Hampshire County Hospital site in Winchester.
The Hub is an exciting new venture supporting the delivery of elective orthopaedic care for patients across the region and is a partnership venture between Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.
The primary function if the role is to deliverhigh quality, effective and compassionate health care to patients undergoing elective surgery.
Whilst the role will predominately support patients undergoing elective orthopaedic surgery within the hub, there will be a rotational element with the wider HHFT pre-assessment service.
Staff will be expected to work collaborativelyin order to provide a high standard of care for our patients.
This role will enable the development of clinical practice, knowledge and skills whilst undertaking independent comprehensive assessments of patients undergoing elective surgery.
Pre assessment is considered to be a pivotal part of the patient's pathway ensuring the patients are in their optimal health for their procedures.
Main duties of the job Pre-Assessment NurseThe role is a primary function supporting the team for the optimal care of our patients.
The delivery of high quality, effective and compassionate health care to the patients of the Central Hampshire Elective Orthopaedic Hub is the most important objective for the organisation.
Pre assessment is considered to be a pivotal part of the patient's pathway ensuring the patients are in their optimal health for their procedures.
Excellent team working and communication skills are essential for this role along with a need to establish and maintain good working relationships within the multidisciplinary team and wider services to work collaboratively and co-operatively to enhance quality of care.

Person Specification Training and Qualifications Essential Professional UK registration NMC, HPC Computer Literate Degree level education or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through any combination of alternative study, or employment experience Desirable History Taking and Physical Examination Qualification Experience and Knowledge Essential Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD) clearly recorded for professional profile Surgical Ward and/or Theatre experience Knowledge and experience of a range of approaches to the management of patients utilising clinical reasoning.
Knowledge of elective surgical pathways.
Desirable Experience of staff supervision Pre-Assessment experience including running of own clinic Skills and Ability Essential Ability to communicate written and verbal information in English, keeping legible and accurate notes Good communication skills to communicate complex, sensitive or confidential information in an appropriate manner.
Ability to cope with working in a stressful and unpredictable environment.
Demonstration of using the trusts CARE values.
Desirable Customer Service experience , dealing with complaints Knowledge of a variety of surgical specialities/operations
