Practice Nurse

Job summary:The practice nurse will work as part of the primary healthcare team providing Personal Medical Services to the patients of practice.Job responsibilities: Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by GPs Organise and co-ordinate the provision of nursing services for the practice, to include the delegation of duties to other practice nursing staff as appropriate Cytology Wound care / ulcer care/ Doppler Removal of Sutures Travel Clinic ECGs Asthma/Peak Flow Readings/Spirometry Venepuncture Hypertension Management Routine immunisations/Childhood immunisations Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs Family planning Chronic disease management, particularly Diabetes and Coronary Heart Disease Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to GPs as appropriate Other tasks will include: Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required Chaperoning and assisting patients who are being examined by another clinician Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms Maintain stock of waiting room leaflets as instructed by partners and Practice Manager Ordering of Health Promotion Literature Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels Participation in administrative systems in the Practice At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records A duty to advise GP of potential problems or errors within a range of assigned tasks Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required On occasion there may be a requirement to undertake home visits, such as flu & COVID vaccinations Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post Person Specification Qualifications Essential Registered nurse with current NMC registration and active PIN.
Minimum 2 years experience post registration in a primary care setting.
Competence to undertake Asthma, COPD and Diabetic clinics / reviews and hold relevant certificates.
Desirable Chronic disease management qualifications, ideally Diabetes and Chronic Heart Disease.
Experience Essential Experience of working as a Practice Nurse within a primary care setting.
Portfolio of CPD with evidence of ability to maintain professional registration Desirable Experience of QOF requirements
