Job summary Lowfield Medical Centre is a smallfriendly and innovative practice situated at the heart of Dartford with a currentlist of over 7200 patients and with the new development in the area we arelooking for a Practice Nurse to join us and provide care to the localpopulation.
Lowfield Medical Centre is a training practice and encourages staffdevelopment among its multi-disciplinary team.Thefocus of this role is the delivery of general practice nursing for patientswith long-term conditions and implementation of health prevention programmes.
Thenurse will work with the team in a supportive environment.
Main duties of the job To provide basic andhigher levels of nursing care as needed for patients including running specific clinicseg respiratory, diabetes, family planning, child immunisations and travel clinics.
To provide care forwounds, ear irrigation, venepuncture, ECGs and 24 hour ECG/BP equipment etc.
Dealing with patients asthey present routinely or as emergencies, assessing patients individual needsand treatment or referring as appropriate.
Immunisations andvaccinations.
Accurately recording allresults on the computer and ensuring familiarity and understanding of the requirements of the GMScontract.
Assisting with meetingQOF targets.
Being familiar withemergency equipment and procedures, maintaining a high standard of safety at all times with regardto checking equipment and drugs and restocking and servicing as necessary.
Being familiar withlocal infection control procedures.
Being aware of TreatmentRoom protocols and taking part in their regular updating.
Ensuring that patientsare treated with due regard to privacy and confidentiality.
Liaising with nursecolleagues and doctors where necessary.
About us We are a busy NHS Training Practice in the centre ofDartford with just over 7200 patients.
We have 4 General Practitioners, 2 Practice Nurses and 1 HCAs, 1 GP Assistant, and 10 members of staff within the Management,Secretarial, Reception and Administrative Teams.The practice has many AARS staff that are employed via the PCN.
