Job Title: Power Supply Design Engineer Location: Cambridgeshire Employment Type: Full-time Experience Level: 3–4 Years About the Role We seek a talented and driven Power Supply Design Engineer with 3–4 years of experience in DC/DC converter design.
You will be an integral part of our client's engineering team, working on innovative projects to design and develop high-efficiency power supply systems for diverse applications.
Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and optimise DC/DC power converters (buck, boost, buck-boost, etc.)
for various applications.
Perform circuit design and simulation using tools such as LTspice, PSpice, or equivalent.
Conduct component selection , including inductors, capacitors, MOSFETs, and controllers, ensuring cost and performance balance.
Design and implement PCB layouts with an emphasis on high efficiency, thermal management, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
Evaluate and validate designs through prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting .
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design specifications meet customer requirements and regulatory standards.
Support production teams in scaling designs for manufacturing.
Stay updated on advancements in power electronics and incorporate cutting-edge technologies into designs.
Qualifications and Skills Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related field.
3–4 years of hands-on experience in DC/DC converter design and development.
Proficiency in power circuit design and simulation tools (e.g., LTspice, PSpice).
Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design principles .
Experience with PCB design software (e.g., Altium, KiCAD, Eagle).
Knowledge of thermal management techniques and EMI/EMC compliance .
Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and electronic loads.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Preferred Experience Exposure to wide bandgap semiconductors (e.g., SiC, GaN).
Knowledge of power management ICs (PMICs) and control algorithms.
Familiarity with automotive, aerospace, or industrial standards (e.g., ISO 26262, DO-160).
