We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Bioinformatics team, working on cutting-edge research in the field of genomics.
Reporting to Dr Laura Winchester and Professor Alejo Nevado-Holgado you will be joining a dynamic interdisciplinary team of clinicians, bioinformaticians and AI/NN experts and will be encouraged to interact widely with this group and with the other scientists across the Department of Psychiatry, the Big Data Institute, the Kavli Institute for Nanoscience Discovery and the wider university.

About the RoleThe post is funded until 29 February 2028 with the possibility of an extension and is based in the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital.
You will have the opportunity to work on projects that leverage the latest advancements in statistical modelling to understand and analyse complex genomic data from Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease.
This will include responsibility for carrying out research in statistical genomics, genetic epidemiology and machine learning.
This will involve implementing integrative multi-omics analysis frameworks to identify proteomic biomarkers of disease risk and progression and detailed analysis of large-scale proteomics cohorts with reference to clinical outcomes in the field of neurodegeneration.
About YouYou will hold a Master's in a relevant subject area, for example, statistics relating to medical sciences or focused on bioinformatics, genetic epidemiology or machine learning.
Strong scientific computing skills for data analysis and coding such as the use of R, python or STATA are essential, as is experience with genomics data and bioinformatics tools as well as experience in machine learning and its application to biomedical datasets.
A PhD in a relevant subject area (awarded or be close to completion) would be desirable as would experience of working on Trusted Research Environments (TRE).
