About The Almshouse Association The almshouse movement has been supporting residents in need for over 1,000 years.
The Almshouse Association was established to support our member charities and raise the profile of the almshouse movement.
There is today a sense of renaissance in the almshouse world but its future cannot be taken for granted.
Government policy changes and almshouses straddle the world and affordable community housing.
Without a keen eye on local and national policy the movement could be negatively affected.
This post is vital to the long-term protection of the housing model.
We have a fantastic opportunity available to work with a national membership charity supporting and protecting this ancient affordable housing model.
We are a small, supportive and dedicated team.
Role Objectives Maintain and update policies for the organisation.
Manage an All-Party Parliamentary Group on Almshouses or joint APPG.
Monitor, interpret and disseminate changing Government policy.
Monitor the political updates using our political monitoring tools.
Manage relationships with a variety of external stakeholders such as MP's and consultants.
To give advice (when trained) to member charities on policy and planning issues.
Organise meetings with appropriate MP's Peers, civil servants, and local government to protect almshouses from negative changes in legislation.
Respond to MP and government enquiries with support from the Chief Executive.
Explore opportunities to engage with partners to enhance the experience for our members.
Identify and guide on environmental policies.
Engage with local councils to develop awareness of the almshouse movement through direct contact and the development of campaigns with the Engagement & PR Manager.
Other activities to assist the Chief Executive.
Experience Administrative and project management.
Experience working in a public affairs, political or campaigning capacity.
Evidence of success in working on engagement campaigns to achieve wider organisational goals.
Some building and planning engagement Skills and Attributes Ability to read, interpret and disseminate Government Bills and Acts for our members.
Excellent oral and written communications and interpersonal skills, with keen attention to detail.
The ability to work well independently and seek advice when required.
Willingness to learn.
Be flexible, supportive and a positive member of the team.
