T&C's apply. Surrey Downs Health & Care To provide a highly effective, comprehensive foot health service for the population of Surrey Downs Health and Care (SDHC). Principal duties include:
Work as an integral member of the podiatry team to assess need and deliver quality programmes of podiatric care to patients in various settings across the SDHC sites.Participate in a mentored rotational programme of specialist clinics, gaining further knowledge and experience in diabetes (acute and community), nail surgery, and biomechanics.Main Duties of the JobThe Podiatry team at Surrey Downs Health and Care is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Podiatrist with excellent clinical and communication skills.
You will have knowledge of a broad range of podiatric practice together with a desire to learn and develop further. A willingness to ask and take advice is essential. In turn, you will be welcomed as an integral member of a progressive and supportive podiatry team. You will assess need and deliver quality programmes of podiatric care to patients in various areas including community clinics and domiciliary settings. To enable you to undertake this role, you will be mentored and supported throughout with an induction process that includes rotations into specialist clinics including wound care, nail surgery, and biomechanics. All staff are encouraged to take part in service transformation, various CPD activities, and further study.

Job ResponsibilitiesAssess, diagnose, develop treatment plans, and provide effective podiatric treatments, using a problem-solving approach based on clinical need and evidence-based practice.Provide early intervention whenever possible to enable long-term gain.Commit to the philosophy of care with an emphasis on patient empowerment and independence by providing education and information to help patients manage their own foot needs.Provide services at a wide variety of sites including patients' homes, clinics, GP practices, community hospitals, and in challenging conditions, often working in isolation.Manage clinical risk within own patient caseload seeking guidance as appropriate.Obtain informed consent prior to treatment plans commencing.Ensure all patients are appropriately assessed prior to referring to the assistant grade.Undertake diagnostic procedures effectively using appropriate equipment e.g. wound swabs, Doppler ultrasound.Be proficient in comprehensive neurological and vascular assessments, wound debridement, advanced pathology, and wound management e.g. dressing selection.Responsible for carrying out a thorough medical assessment to ensure suitability of local anaesthesia and minor surgery.Undertake specialist surgical intervention for complex nail pathologies, for example, nail avulsions and chemical destruction of the nail matrix with local anaesthesia.Undertake basic biomechanical assessments in order to prescribe, manufacture, and dispense orthotics or simple insoles referring to specialist service as required.Manage a domiciliary caseload within a geographical area.Maintain clear, comprehensive, and accurate records.Participate in specialist clinical rotations, gaining in-depth knowledge and experience in advanced areas of podiatric practice.Actively participate in clinical support (clinical supervision) and utilise reflective practice as a method to ensure quality of care for all service users.Provide advice and guidance to podiatry assistants.Person SpecificationQualificationsBSc/DPodM Podiatry/Podiatric MedicineHCPC Registered PodiatristCar Driver (Full Licence) with access to a car for business useMember of the College of PodiatryExperienceExperience of working in a teamKnowledge of a broad range of podiatric practice.Appreciation of good record keepingAwareness of current NHS trends and policies, including clinical governance and NCF'sSkillsGood hand-eye coordinationEffective communicationIT SkillsOtherAbility to carry out physical aspects of the roleAbility to work under pressureGood time managementDisclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Salary: £31,469 to £38,308 a year (Per Annum Pro Rata inc Fringe HCAS)
