Job summary We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative Podiatrist who wants the opportunity to develop and grow in both Musculoskeletal Health and Biomechanics.
The role is new and the successful candidate would work across the large MSK Service supporting the Lower Limb Team and the Podiatry team with a bias to biomechanics.
There would be the opportunity to really develop and improve the management of foot and ankle pathology from a MSK perspective, biomechanics and at Risk Foot.The post holder would work across both the MSK Service and Podiatry Service with the opportunity to improve pathways and optimise patient care ensuring cohesive management of foot and ankle pathology.
Supervision would be ensured from both services to develop skills and knowledge enhancing the clinician to grow in MSK and biomechanics.
As a new initiative the successful candidate can really implement change and be part of service improvement and pathway development and influence change of service delivery.
Main duties of the job Professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own workUndertake comprehensive assessment of any presenting patient / referral, and interpret the relevant clinical findings using specialised knowledge, clinical reasoning & analytical skills, including within complex patient presentationsManage a caseload, including patients with long-term conditions, co-morbidities and multi-factorial needsAssess patients with foot health pathology including those with systemic disease ( diabetes, vascular, systemic inflammatory disorders) to maximise improvement through high levels of technical skill and behaviour change managementCompetent in all areas of podiatry practice with a focus on Biomechanics and MSK PathologyDemonstrate highly developed dexterity, co-ordination and palpatory sensory skills for assessment and treatmentEnsure a high standard of clinical care for the patients, support and facilitate more junior staff, using evidence-based practice and evaluation of outcomesWork with the Podiatry and MSK Team, ensuring appropriate management of patients referred for podiatry assessmentResponsible for own caseload, working autonomously to provide assessment, diagnosis, and management plans for acute and chronic conditions of the foot, ankle, and related structuresWork with students and team members on rotation to develop their skills and knowledge in MSK and BiomechanicsSupervise and directly support more junior members of the Podiatry and MSK team About us Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is a newly established organisation, bringing together expertise from across mental health, learning disabilities, community, and physical health services.
