Plc Software Engineer

Purpose of Role To provide PLC and HMI programming and commissioning of complex automation projects; Reporting to: Project Managers Specific Responsibilities Design HMI screens and PLC code Support of existing PLC software through troubleshooting and implementation of corrective action Communicate with customers and implement their specific needs Support through initial PLC software loading Support of customer equipment startups requiring travel, a mix of domestic and international, and flexible work hours Works efficiently and independently on software design projects Team coordination will be required on large projects Performs other duties as assigned Knowledge & Experience Required Minimum of 4 years of experience with Siemens TIA Portal or Rockwell ControlLogix Minimum of 4 years of experience within automotive and robotics Experience with Variable Frequency Drives Experience with ControlNet and EtherNet as applied in Industrial Networks Experience with Eplan P8 would be an advantage but not vital Knowledge of industrial control system principles and standard approaches Technical Competencies Siemens TIA Portal Rockwell ControlLogix programming and debugging Ability to read schematic diagrams Understanding of IEC software standards Special conditions Some weekend working, some working away from home, as required.
Estimated 70% Bedford based & 30% UK Travel.
Must be located within 1 hours commute of Bedford Full driving License Remuneration Salary £35-50k depending on experience 29 days holiday (including Stat) Workplace pension Yearly bonus scheme worth up to 5% of salary £350 pcm car allowance or company car
