Job Title: Platform Engineer Contract Type: Permanent Location: Edinburgh Working style: Hybrid 50% home/office based Closing date: 4th December We are looking for a Platform Engineer who will support specialist services provided by a set of software platforms and tools, while working on the design, implementation, integration and ongoing management of the core platforms and tools in their area.
A Platform engineer will apply DevOps principles and practices to the management and nature of their own products and services with the objective of a "platform as a service" model.
About the role Deliver technical solutions and processes for existing or new platform tooling.
Develop automation for all aspects of platform service management including patching, upgrades, changes, applying DevOps principles and toolchain, exploiting cloud, container, and infrastructure-as-code capabilities to help improve the automated provision, test, and operation of the platform technologies and services in your area.
Support service operations, patching and upgrades as required, helping ensure platforms are maintained within service levels and currency appetite.
Identify, respond to, investigate, and resolve incidents and problems that impact service operation.
Define and maintain standards and security controls of platform technologies and services in your area, ensuring these are implemented and monitored appropriately.
Contribute to the ongoing development and maturity of the platforms and tools, managing complexity, and ensuring integrity, security, and reliability of services.
Contribute to the ongoing maintenance and management of knowledge information, technical communities, documentation, and standards related to the platform technologies and services in your area.
About you Additional Cloud Platform skills are preferred.
