Plastic Surgeon with a Special Interest in Lower-Limb Trauma and HandsApplications are invited for a Consultant Plastic Surgeon post with a special interest in lower-limb trauma and hand surgery, including hand trauma.
This role is to provide Consultant services between two sites: the Royal Sussex County Hospital and Queen Victoria NHS Foundation Trust. Regarding the former, the successful applicant will be expected to support regional lower limb trauma at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, which is the designated Major Trauma Centre for the southeast.
The role will also provide plastic surgery services to Queen Victoria Hospital, with a particular emphasis on both elective hand surgery and complex hand trauma. As a regional tertiary centre for Plastic Surgery, the expectation is that the individual would become an integral part of the consultant faculty and in turn work flexibly to support other areas of Plastic Surgery as and when required.
Applicants must hold the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons or equivalent, and have completed a period of higher professional training, including a microsurgery fellowship. Applicants should possess the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent.
Main duties of the jobIt is expected that the post holder will contribute to the overall surgical commitment of the Trusts and will be expected to continue overseeing the post-operative management of such as appropriate. The post-holder will also be expected to provide training and supervision for junior medical staff and allied health professionals across both organisations.

Job responsibilitiesAs a Consultant at the Trust, you will share responsibility for the development and delivery of your clinical service. You will work with colleagues to ensure that your service meets all relevant professional, national, and local service standards and targets. You will contribute to the delivery of an annual service plan that includes patient activity and revenue during the year as part of the hospital's overall business plan. You will be expected to take part in audit and publish measures of your outcomes appropriate to speciality.
