ROLE OVERVIEW This is a full-time, permanent role.
As a Plantsperson, you will work within our plant nursery, forming an essential part of the growing team.
In this key role, you will support various areas of the growing operations, working closely with the Growing Manager to oversee all aspects of horticultural processes and procedures in your designated area.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to propagation, fertilization, irrigation, growth regulation, and attending to other daily crop needs to ensure optimal plant health and productivity.
Reporting to Growing Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES To support the growing manager in overseeing the growth and production of plants, ensuring they are healthy and productive.
This includes planting, watering, fertilizing, as set out by the growing manager.
Maintain the crops, by pinching, pruning, and cutting back Testing and managing soil health across site (EC/PH testing) daily.
To ensure all plants are receiving correct nutrients to promote plant growth and prevent diseases Continually identifying and managing pests and diseases that can affect plant health Operating and maintaining equipment such as sprayers, trimmers and irrigation systems to support crop production, including carrying out minor repairs Ensuring that the equipment for growing proposes is in proper working conditions.
Inform facilities team of any issues or repairs required Complete relevant growing data, counts and documentation Responsible for housekeeping, sanitation and weed control for specified areas Following health and safety policies and procedures while on site Ensuring that all activities are done efficiently, effectively, and according to the schedule KEY SKILLS Strong understanding of growing and agriculture production practices Proven experience in greenhouse and open field work Skilled in using irrigation, fertilization, and environmental control systems Work effectively and efficiently to meet specified output targets Valid driving license Forklift license would be an advantage Self-motivated and ability to work independently and take initiative Excellent time management, organizational and interpersonal skills Quick learner with a positive, can-do attitude and ability to follow instructions effectively.
