SEND Teaching Assistant Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: Portsmouth, Hampshire
Salary: £84 per day
Hours: 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Contract Type: Temporary, Term Time Only (plus INSET days)
Start Date: ASAP
About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join our client secondary school in Portsmouth on a temporary basis.
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in accessing the curriculum and achieving their full potential.
This role involves working closely with teachers, the SENDCo, and other support staff to provide tailored assistance to students both in and outside of the classroom.
Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEND, adapting learning materials and activities to meet their individual needs.
Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behavior plans.
Support the class teacher in managing classroom behavior and promoting a positive learning environment.
Foster a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere that encourages student engagement and independence.
Help with the preparation and organization of learning resources and materials.
Collaborate with other professionals, including the SENDCo, to monitor and report on student progress.
Assist with personal care needs as required, ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all students.

Requirements: Must have an enhanced DBS check on the Update Service.
Must have completed safeguarding training.
Experience working with children or young people with SEND is highly desirable.
