Job Title: Learning Support Assistant (SEND and SEMH Support) Location: Horsham (ages 6-18)
Contract: Temporary to Permanent, 12 working weeks
Start Date: As soon as possible
Daily Rate: £97
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to support students aged 6 to 18 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This rewarding role involves providing individual and small-group support to students with diverse needs, helping them engage with their learning and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities: Individualised Support: Work closely with students on a one-to-one or small-group basis to provide tailored assistance based on their specific learning, emotional, and behavioural needs.
Classroom Engagement: Collaborate with teachers to deliver engaging and inclusive lessons, ensuring all students can access the curriculum effectively.
Behaviour Management: Implement positive behaviour management strategies, promoting self-regulation and emotional resilience in students with SEMH.
Adaptable Support: Provide age-appropriate support to students across a broad age range (6-18), adapting your approach to suit their developmental stages.
Progress Monitoring: Track and report on students' progress, celebrating their achievements and identifying areas for further development.
Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work alongside teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or Behaviour Plans.
Promoting Independence: Encourage students to develop confidence and independence in both academic and social settings.
Inclusive Environment: Foster a positive and inclusive school environment where all students feel supported, valued, and safe.
Candidate Qualities: Empathy and Understanding: A caring and patient approach to supporting students with SEND and SEMH needs.
Experience with SEND and SEMH: Ideally, candidates will have experience working with children or young people with additional needs, though training is provided for those with transferable skills.
Strong Communication Skills: Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families to provide consistent support.
Flexibility and Adaptability: Willingness to adapt to the needs of a diverse age group and a range of abilities and behaviours.
Team Player: Collaborative and open to feedback, working effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Commitment to Professional Growth: Eager to engage in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
