Job summary Wateringbury Surgery is a friendly and innovative semi-ruraldispensing practice with a branch surgery in Larkfield.
Ourpatient list size is growing and we require an experienced Phlebotomist to joinand support our Nursing team 18 hours a week.Clinical System: EMISWeb Salary: depending on experience.
You will be included in the NHS pensionscheme4 weeks annual leave plus birthday leave.DBS check will be required.If you are a registered patient at the practice and you areappointed you will be required to register to with another practice.
Main duties of the job We require a competent experienced phlebotomist who can work under pressure.Appointment will be five minute slots with adequate catch up slotsThe successful applicant will support the nursing team with assisting with samples, replenishing stock etc About us Wateringbury Surgery is a three GP Partner practice supported by five salaried GPs, a nursing team of five, reception and admin staff and the dispensary.We are part of the successful Malling PCN and share additional staff to support the practice Clinical Pharmacists, Paramedics, Social prescribers, Learning Disability Coordinator, Dementia Care Ordinator, Cancer care Coordinator.
Job description Job responsibilities Working under the direction of the lead nurse and as part of thepractice multidisciplinary team, the post holder will be responsible forperforming venepuncture, as requested by the clinical team, to the entitledpatient population.
In addition, the Phlebotomistwill be expected to support the nursing team on an as required basis.
Person Specification Knowledge and Skills Essential Venepuncture Ability to record accurate clinical skills Effective time management (planning and organising) Ability to follow clinical policy and procedure Ability to work as a team member and autonomously Excellent communication skills (written and oral) Desirable Clinical IT system user skills Experience Essential Experience of working with the general public Experience of working in a healthcare setting Desirable Experience of working in a GP practice Qualifications Essential Relevant qualification in venepuncture Good standard of general education Personal Attributes Essential Polite and confident Flexible and cooperative Motivated High levels of integrity and loyalty Sensitive and empathetic in distressing situations Ability to work under pressure/in stressful situations Effectively able to communicate and understand the needs of the patient Effectively utilise resources Punctual and committed to supporting the team effort Desirable Problem solver with the ability to process information accurately and effectively, interpreting data as required Commitment to ongoing professional development
