Job summary Dr A Sulakshana and Partners (Barton Surgery)is looking to welcome an experienced and qualified phlebotomist into our busy practice, to support our nursing team.
The position is offered on a part-time basis for the following hours and days; Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, - Main duties of the job Working strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols toassist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care; Collecting samples of blood in accordance with training and procedures, ensuring correct storage, labelling, recording and efficient dispatching of samples; Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible, and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample; Checking patient identification against GP or nurse request, and confirming with the patient whenever possible; Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff; Notifying the GP of any significant patient issues; Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team.
About us Our practice is well established covering the rural area of Barton-Le-Clay and surrounding villages.
There is a branch surgery at Gooseberry Hill covering parts of northern Luton.
The aim of the practice is to provide good family medicine in conditions conducive to matching the high expectations of our patients.

Person Specification Experience Essential Experience of working in a healthcare setting, ideally within primary care.
Ability to record accurate clinical notes.
Consistently confidential, compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues.
Ability to communicate effectively, and to understand the needs of the patient.
Strength in problem-solving, with the ability to process information accurately and effectively, interpreting data as required.
Flexibility and an adaptable approach.

You will have the following skills and qualifications: Minimum of a Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent qualification or experience.
Relevant qualification and clinical knowledge and skills in venepuncture.
