Job summary An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Healthcare Assistant - Phlebotomist to join our small and friendly nursing team at the Hereward Practice providing high quality care for our patients.We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant Phlebotomist, preferably with experience of Primary Care or the NHS, who will work25 hours a week over Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with the possibility of extra hours to help cover annual leave, sick leave.The successful candidate will be expected to undertake routine patient care, managing their own pre-booked clinic and workload within the designated timescale.General HCA clinics can be extremely varied, from babies and young children to the elderly, and our staff need excellent communication skills with a caring and compassionate nature to be able to deal with whoever is booked into the clinic.A Healthcare Assistant needs to be flexible and adaptable, with the ability to remain calm under pressure and be professional at all times.
Main duties of the job Participate in running the in-house phlebotomyserviceUndertake HCA clinics incorporating cleaning anddressing minor wounds, stitch removal, ECGs, blood pressure recording andurinalysisUndertake B12 injections where appropriate andunder a Patient Specific DirectiveParticipate in running NHS Health check clinicsRoutine patient care as requested by GPs andpractice nursesSupport other members of the nursing teamChaperone duties if required for examinationsTreatment roomsuppliesIn conjunction with the nursing team, ensure themaintenance of treatment room equipment and stock levels relating to patientcarePathologicalspecimensUndertake the collection of pathological specimensincluding intravenous blood samples and swabs etc.
