Job summary UnderwoodSurgery is looking to recruit a bank Phlebotomist/Health Care assistant to provide support for the nursing team.
The applicantwill ideally have experience in a primary care setting including treatment roomduties, and experience in chronic disease management.The successfulapplicant will possess compassion for patients along with a positive can-doattitude to continually deliver an excellent service for patients.Although therole is initially to provide cover, we hope there would be scope to providefixed hours in the future.
Main duties of the job The roleinvolves the delivery of essential treatment room duties including healthchecks, wound care and seasonal immunisations.
All applicants will be expected to take bloods,perform ECG's, take height and weight measurements and BP readings as aminimum.
As a Practice we will be happy to consider someone withoutprimary care experience as additional training can be provided if required.
About us We are a 4-partnerpractice with a dedicated Lead Nurse, three practice nurses and aphlebotomist/HCA.
We deliver care to 11,000patients within central Cheltenham.
Partof this population is made up of University of Gloucestershire students who areseen at our sister surgery on the Park Campus in Cheltenham.
We are a training practice accommodating GPRegistrars and Student Nurses.
Job description Job responsibilities New patient health checks ECG recording Phlebotomy B12 injections under PSD.
Point of care testing for INRS, CRP and D-Dimers.
Run INR clinics using INR star, liaise with GP/NP when INR is out of range.
Wound Care following clinical management plan.
Ear Irrigation Suture removal Flu, Shingles, Pneumonia injections for those in the eligible groups under a PSD.
Chaperoning duties Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment if required.
Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being Assist the Practice Manager in audits, CQC compliance evidence, QOF recalls.
Input data onto patients records.
Manage the Emergency drugs register, stock levels and re-order as necessary.
Take an active involvement in infection control monitoring and compliance.
