Job Title: Pharmacy Assistant (Wards-Based) Job Reference: AR/29/11/24 Location: NHS Hospital, Surrey Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Start Date: January 2025 Hourly Rate: £15 per hour Job Description: We are currently seeking a dedicated and proactive Pharmacy Assistant to join a busy NHS hospital in Surrey.
This is a wards-based role, where you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of pharmaceutical services across various hospital wards.
You will work closely with the pharmacy team to ensure the safe and efficient provision of medicines to patients.
Key Responsibilities: Assist in the preparation and dispensing of medications for patients on hospital wards.
Ensure the safe storage and handling of medications in accordance with NHS guidelines.
Liaise with healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive the correct pharmaceutical care.
Maintain accurate patient medication records.
Provide support with stock control and inventory management.
Assist with the preparation of drug charts and prescriptions.
Ensure all medication errors are reported promptly and appropriately.
Essential Requirements: Previous experience as a Pharmacy Assistant or in a similar healthcare setting.
Knowledge of NHS pharmacy procedures and guidelines.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Good organisational and time-management skills.
Desirable Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
Previous experience in a hospital pharmacy environment.
