Job summary Aseptic Services Manager Band 7 Hours: per week The pharmacy at Milton Keynes University Hospital needs to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated individual, focused on providing the best possible patient care and experience.
You would work as anintegral part of our team to help us deliver our departmental service to a high standard.
We are looking to recruit a Pharmacist at the start of their career in aseptic services, or an experienced Technician, to the role of Aseptic Services Manager.
If the appointed individual is a Pharmacist, they will deputise for the Accountable Pharmacist.
A new purpose built Aseptic unitopened in March 2020, this is co-located within the Cancer Centre building.
A new radiotherapy centre is also being constructed with an anticipated opening date in winter 2024.
The main pharmacy department has also undergone a major refurbishment project and installed a newdispensing robot.

You should be a registered pharmacist or pharmacy technician who is looking to develop their skills further within the pharmacy team; based in theAseptic Unit you will provide an excellent service to the trust ensuring prompt and efficient production and supply of medicines.
Duties may include:?
Overseeing the running of the aseptic unit on a daily basis.?
Contribute to the management of the quality system operated within the aseptic unit.

Assisting in stock control and financial management of budgets.?
Depending on status, participation in preparation of cytotoxic drugs and release of prepared items.
Recording, collating and assessing environmental and performance data, witing and presenting reports to senior management.
To support the Pharmacy team in delivering a consistently high quality Aseptic Pharmacy service.
To promote and support the efficient and cost effective use of medicines.
To comply with pharmacy procedures, clinical governance, quality assurance and risk management.
Operationally manage the aseptic services unit on a daily basis, working closely with the Accountable Pharmacist and Quality Assurance Lead to ensure quality services are delivered in a timely fashion.
Line manage staff assigned to you, and contribute to the training of staff and assessment of competence.

Job description Job responsibilities Trust Responsibilities To lead the operational management of the aseptic dispensing activities to ensure the safe and efficient supply of pharmaceutical products for patients and to support staff in the effective management of medicines.
To be responsible for the training of healthcare professionals on aseptic dispensing practices and other systems for managing the supply of aseptically prepared medicines to patients as required for the efficient and effective running of the hospitals services.
To review the service in light of demand and escalate concerns regarding safety of the unit To work closely with the Accountable Pharmacist in managing the unit To contribute to the Trusts compliance with the Medicines Management standards, Clinical Governance, Quality Assurance and Risk management.
Professional Responsibilities General Support, lead and develop staff through personal and professional interaction as a positive, effective and credible role model.
As a specialist practitioner to identify, write and approve policies and procedures to ensure that legal and ethical requirements dispensing and supply are fulfilled.
Take responsibility for the organisational management of service improvement projects or initiatives for the service, development of project plans, and delivery of aims and objectives of each individual project.
Retain professional competence and credibility through continuous practice and education, providing expert advice where required, internal and external customers of the Trust.
Education & Training To ensure new staff receive a full induction, and those in training positions have the necessary training provided to ensure they achieve the competencies required for the qualification for which they are studying.
To identify training needs of managed staff so they are able to undertake their required roles.
To evaluate the training provided.
To identify own training needs.
To maintain a portfolio of practice to fulfil the mandatory continuing professional development requirement of The General Pharmaceutical Council.
Research and Audit To collect data for internal audits of dispensing, supply and procurement to provide good quality assurance.
To liaise on pharmaceutical aspects of oncology clinical trials with the lead pharmacist for clinical trials and to ensure the safe and appropriate storage of trial drugs.
To guide and support others undertaking research.

Person Specification Qualifications and knowledge Essential Current Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council NVQ level 3 Pharmaceutical Sciences (or BTEC, City and Guilds equivalent), or, MPharm degree (or equivalent) Post-qualification technical and managerial knowledge and skills gained through any combination of study, employment or voluntary work NVQ assessor / tutor/ Internal verifier GCP Training (or willing to undertake) Evidence of continuous professional practice and education, clearly recorded in current professional profile Desirable To have undertaken the University of Leeds Aseptic Preparation and Dispensing of Medicines course or equivalent Education Supervisor / Train the trainer or equivalent To have undertaken courses on aspects of management.
Experience Essential Experience of managing staff, workload and monitoring quality Desirable Previous experience of delivering training and education Skills Essential To have a good working knowledge of GMP, NHS guidance on unlicensed units, National Intrathecal guidance and Clinical Trials Directive EU2001/20/EC Ability to lead and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, negotiating constructively and successfully with team members Ability to organise self and others Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build rapport with colleagues at all levels Demonstrates the ability to work on problems from a unique or different angle.
