We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Advisor to join our dynamic Children Care Team based in Carlisle.
In this vital role, you will work closely with young people aged 16-25, providing advice, guidance, and practical support as they navigate the challenges of adulthood.
As a Personal Advisor, you will play a key role in helping care leavers achieve their goals, promoting their well-being, and empowering them to live independent, fulfilling lives.
Your support will be crucial in areas such as education, employment, housing, and life skills development.
Key Responsibilities: Build and maintain positive, trusting relationships with care leavers, offering advice and emotional support.
Work collaboratively with young people to create and review Pathway Plans, outlining their goals and the steps needed to achieve them.
Provide guidance on education, employment, training opportunities, and securing accommodation.
Help care leavers access health services, benefits, and financial advice.
Advocate on behalf of young people, ensuring they receive the support and services they are entitled to.
Liaise with social workers, foster carers, housing providers, and other professionals involved in the care leaver's lives.
Maintain accurate records and ensure all statutory duties are met in line with current legislation.
Key Requirements: Experience working with children and young people, ideally within a care or support setting.
Strong understanding of the challenges faced by care leavers and a commitment to advocating for their rights.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with young people.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies surrounding children in care and leaving care services.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (preferred).
