Job summary We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Dental Therapist to join our friendly team in PCDS at UHBW.
The post is Band 6, permanent post and wte, 2 days.Our service is reaching out to people, many of whom have previously found it difficult to access dental care.
We are continuing to meet the challenge of extending NHS dental access and providing continuing dental care for vulnerable individuals.
This includes the provision of sedation services alongside dental public health roles.Working within our team, you will be part of a caring and committed group providing high quality dental care to local people with a range of dental needs.
A positive approach is essential as well as the ability to strike a rapport with people who may find dental services daunting.
Our service offers an excellent clinical working environment operating from modern surgeries with dedicated computerised clinical information systems.The post holder will be required to work across various clinics in Bristol, Bath and Weston.You will work as part of the team providing urgent care and routine treatment to patients who do not have routine access to NHS dentistry.All post holders must have current registration with the General Dental Council.
Main duties of the job You will carry out a comprehensive range of dental care on referral from a prescribing dentist which falls within the legal remit set by the GDC, for a dental therapist, and according to the needs of the service, to priority groups including children and adults with a wide variety of special care needs.The role is very well supported by nurses, clinicians, senior clinicians, clinical director and Ops manager.

Person Specification Knowledge and Experience Essential Dealing with the anxious patient, those with special needs and patients with challenging behaviour.
The Dental Hygienist/Therapist will require appropriate communication skills beyond that required for routine dental care of the able bodied patient.
Broad experience of General Dental Practice Skills and Abilities Essential Up to date on all methods of prevention and a high level of dexterity skills.
