Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisento work as a Patient Safety Team within a dynamic and progressing Patient Safetyteam on a fixed term basis.The post holder will beresponsible for overseeing the delivery of the Trust's Patient Safety IncidentResponse plan.
The post holder will provide leadership and support to thepatient safety team.
The post holder will also be responsible for coordinatingthematic reviews, patient safety investigations and learning from safetyevents.
The post holder will be highly skilled in thedevelopment of patient safety investigation reports and will be a key driver ofTrust wide safety initiatives.The post holder will be proativein delivering patient safety improvement and work collabroatively with thewider trust and external partners.
Main duties of the job The successful candidate will lead the day to day deliveryof the Trust's patient safety incident response plan to support the delivery ofsafer systems of care.A large part of the role will be ensuring that learning andimprovements occur from patient safety incidents with the aim of reducingfuture risk and helping make care safer, whilst ensuring that patients, theirfamilies, and staff are supported.
The post holder will provide line management andleadership to the paitent safety team and provide patient safety expertise tothe wider team.

Job description Job responsibilities Providepatient safety expertise/leadership within the organisation; demonstratingcompassionate leadership, visibility and supporting the continued developmentof the patient safety culture.
The postholder will lead, enable and facilitate change within the patient safety arenato deliver innovative ways of working that are patient safety centered.
The postholder will manage the the patient safety budget.
Responsiblefor ensuring that there are organisational effective systems and processes arein place for the management of incidents and the use of the Ulysses system, ensuring a sound system exists in linewith national guidance.
As asenior manager in the patient safety team, ensure ongoing monitoring againstall required standards and approprately escalate any concerns to the managementteam, where a service falls below those standards, ensure the production of acomprehensive action plan, and ongoing assurance of delivery of the requiredaction plan, to help eliminate poor quality care and improve service deliveryand compliance.
Overseethe implementation of Patient Safety Incident Response Plan.
Identifyand provide clear rationale for locally defined incidents requiring localPatient Safety Incident Investigation (PSII) approval.
Completetraining needs analysis to enable thedelivery of the response plan.
Workautonomously as an investigator and in conjunction with subject matter expertsand clinical colleagues.
Responsiblefor the management of day to day overview of investigations.
Manage acomplex workload to tight deadlines and meet the requirements of a large numberof stakeholders with minimal supervision.
Providemanagement and leadership to the Patient Safety team.
Work incollaboration and partnership with other key stakeholders to coordinate eventsaround patient safety priorities including falls, pressure damage andinfection, prevention and control.
Use highlydeveloped motivational skills to encourage collaborative working.
Will gatherand analyse a variety of data in different formats from a number of sources toidentify patient safety related trends and themes and prioritise them fortargeted action.Please note the person spec asks for a car driver - this should read as abilty to travel between trust sites Person Specification Special Skills & Knowledge Essential Competent IT skills.

Qualifications Essential Masters or equivalent experience.
Patient safety qualification.
Desirable Qualification - leadership or project management.
Professional registration.
Experience Essential Experience of working in a patient safety related role.
Experience of management.
Experience of data analysis.
Knowledge of PSIRF.
Knowledge of patient safety strategy.
Experience working with incident system management system.
Desirable Experience in delivering training.
Experience of writing or contributing to large public-facing documents.
Experience of analysing data to support and deliver quality improvement.
