Job overview The Microbiology department at Maidstone Hospital have a permanent post available for Specialist Biomedical Scientists (BMS band 6).We are looking for candidates who have IBMS Specialist Diploma in Microbiology and ideally at least three years post HCPC registration experience in a microbiology department .The department has the following main pieces of equipment: Biomeriuex Blood culture analysers and Vitek 2, Bruker Maldi ToF, Enteric bio PCR for bacteria, viruses and some parasites, Perkin Elmer and Bruker Hain molecular equipment for CoVid, and TB PCR ,Roche 5800, BD Midget, Abbott Architect and Biomerieux Vidas for serology.

Main duties of the job All HCPC Registered staff will be expected to rotate through all sections of the department and join the on call rota following suitable competency assesment.In return we offer an interesting and challenging role within the friendly microbiology team.

Specialties covered include : paediatrics, haemato oncology.
