Patient Appointments Clerk/Clerical Officer

Job summary To provide an effective and efficient outpatient appointment service.
The post holder acts as the first point of contact for telephone communication for the Specialist Nurses, thereby supporting the delivery of quality care to patients within the BCLUHB.
The post holder will administer clinics for the OPD and Minor Injuries Unit and carry out general clerical duties to facilitate the daily operation of the office.
The Appointment Clerk will work closely with the Specialist Nurses; the post holder is required to work accurately and independently, within guidelines after training in the patient focused booking of appointments.
Use their own initiative and judgement, rather than supervised, deciding when necessary to consult their manager.

NVQ Level 2 in Administration or equivalent experience.
IT qualification or equivalent level of experience using Microsoft packages RSA/OCR Level 2 or equivalent experience Desirable ECDL AMSPAR-City & Guilds Level 3 Skills Essential Able to contribute constructively to a team working environment Able to record information accurately.
Able to communicate information clearly and sensitively in person and over the telephone.
Desirable WPAS Knowledge Essential Working with the public or other agencies Work effectively under pressure in a clinical environment Welsh Speaking
