Job summary Working Full time : hours per week We have an exciting new vacancy for a Band 4 Cancer Support Worker within the Cellular Pathology post will provide administrative support to the Cellular Pathology and Cancer Services teams in keeping an oversight of patients on a suspected cancer pathway awaiting Histology, ultimately improving FDS performance and ensuring patients' results are available to clinicians as soon as possible.
Main duties of the job The post holder will monitor the progress of patients results and liaise with the Cellular Pathology team to aid the prioritisation of patients, helping to expedite reporting of results, improve communication and decrease overall turnaround times for Pathology.
The post holder will also provide a point of contact for other specialties and MDT coordinators, reducing the administrative burden on clinical members of staff within Pathology.
The role will also provide crucial safety netting for patients, whereby any incidental findings are communicated swiftly to the MDT coordinators to ensure the urgent pickup of any cancer results for patients not referred on a suspected cancer pathway.
The role will involve dealing directly with a variety of staff grades.
