Part Time - Designated Nurse For Looked After Children - Band 8B

Job summary The post holder will provide a Designated Nurse function in relation to Looked After Children as outlined in Statutory Guidance on Promoting the health and Well-being of Looked after Children (2015) Utilise advanced communication, influencing and strategic leadership skills to inform and influence the local and national agenda for Looked After Children.
This will specifically include liaison with and advice / support / supervision to partner agencies Main duties of the job Responsibility for ensuring that health assessments and health care plans are implemented to the required standard, in accordance with statutory guidance.
And Ensure the health needs of Looked After Children placed outside Surrey are addressed Advise, professionally challenge, and escalate, when required Work as a member of the Surrey ICB Safeguarding Adults, Children, Looked After Children and Child Death Review Team Provide advice on planning, strategy, and the audit of quality standards in relation to health services for Looked After Children Develop and present the team's annual report, interim progress reports, and risk and mitigation management Communication and interpretation of national and local health policy, highly sensitive, complex, and contentious information Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and communication links with a wide range of professionals Participate as an active member for Surrey Corporate Parenting Board and relevant subgroups and strategic groups Provide Looked After Children leadership within Local Safeguarding Children Practice Review panels where this is required Inform and influence the local and national agenda for Looked After Children.

Person Specification Knowledge, Training and Experience Essential Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area Extensive knowledge of specialist areas, acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to master's level equivalent Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development Must have an understanding of the background to and aims of current health and care policies, priorities and strategy in Surrey Heartlands and appreciate the implications of this on engagement Should have an appreciation of the relationship between key systems partners, including Surrey County Council and wider regional and national bodies , NHSE Member of relevant professional body Analytical Essential Ability to identify risks, anticipate issues and create solutions and to resolve problems in relation to project or service delivery.
Ability to understand a broad range of complex information quickly and making decisions where opinions differ/no obvious solution Communication & Relationship Skills Essential Developed communication skills for delivering key messages to a range of stakeholders both internal and external (including outside the NHS) to the organisation, some at very senior level.
