Paint Chemist

A leading paint manufacturer has an immediate requirement for an experienced Paint Chemist to join them at their offices near Manchester.
Key Skills: Paint Chemist Salary: Circa 35,000 + benefits Location: Manchester, M12 5ED It is essential that you have previous experience as a Paint Chemist, ideally working with decorative paints.
As a Paint Chemist, you will be a key member of the research and development team looking at improvement, testing and troubleshooting, maintenance and evaluation of products, sourcing and testing raw materials, manufacturing procedures, test procedures, quality systems, R&D systems, and documentation.
Your main responsibilities will be to: Plan a pilot plant and scale up products from laboratory trials through to the handover into the production facility.
Develop new formulations and produce samples.
Assist in the routine operation at the R&D Laboratory.
Analyse and evaluate raw materials and competitor products.
Investigate and formulate improvements of products and manufacturing processes and assist with their implementation.
Investigate and formulate solutions to problems in production, laboratory, and the field, make recommendations to the Technical Manager, and liaise with other staff in remedying problems.
Develop an understanding of research, produce reports (verbal and written) to the Technical Director, and communicate the results of research.
Become familiar with and actively support all provisions of the Quality System appropriate to the responsibility of this position.
Colour matching and Quality Control of colour collateral would be an advantage.
