Job description Job responsibilities ABOUT THE TEAMThe Paediatric Orthopaedic service accepts patients from across the Wessex region; a population of approximately 8.4million.
It covers Outpatient clinics as well as supporting inpatients on ward G3.
As well as accepting referrals from across the Wessex Network, Southampton Childrens Hospital is one of the only Paediatric Trauma Centres on the South Coast.
You will be working with a Multidisciplinary team across the Orthopaedic Specialty as well as supporting long term patients through transition to adult care.
WHAT YOULL DOWorking with the existing multidisciplinary team you will be responsible for: Providing specialist advice, education and support to health care professionals and parents/carers of children with orthopaedic and trauma role will include a combination of inpatient and outpatient duties, with opportunities arising from both sectors.
Both will be fully supported to promote and work towards independent working.
Dealing with sensitive and distressing situations, managing these in an appropriate manner Managing your own work load, assessing and prioritising within agreed specialist guidelines Contributing to the development of the specialist service, ensuring documentation and programmes of care are updated regularly.
Ensuring documentation is completed to Trust policy and in accordance with NMC requirements Building good working relationships with the multidisciplinary team and providing support to staff on the wardWork in areas of specialist interest, with the option to develop specialist skills and knowledgeAs part of the role, you will undertake a Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice.
Throughout this process, you will be supported by both the ACP team and the Consultant team.
Person Specification Trust Values Essential Patients First Always improving Working together Qualifications, knowledge and experience Essential Registered Healthcare Professional on relevant part of NMC / HCPC register Completion of Healthcare Degree (or equivalent - Minimum 120 credits at L6 or evidence of Masters level study) Committed and eligible for participation in and completion of MSc in area of speciality Higher Education Institute approved course in supporting learners in practice or the ability to Provide evidence of: oSupporting a range of learners in practice oSupporting colleagues to promote effective learning in practice Evidence of on-going personal and professional development Basic keyboard skills with knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint Significant Post Registration experience within chosen specialty Broad awareness of wider Trust initiatives / pressures Coaching/leadership experience Desirable Completion of HTPA Competencies Independent Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification ILS trained Evidence of ability to change or initiate practice Registered on MSc Pathway as an experienced practitioner Further study at Level 7 within relevant pathway Leadership qualification (RCN, LDC, Edward Jenner, Elizabeth Garret Anderson, Nye Bevan) Maths and English Level 2 or have recognised equivalence from the ENIC process
