Warwick Emergency Department children's area is a busy, challenging and rewarding arena to work within.We are looking for staff who are motivated, enthusiastic and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with the ability to work within the fast-paced environment of Emergency Medicine.An opportunity has arisen for RCN or dual qualified children's nurses to join our friendly team within the Emergency Department.
We have an excellent team of health care professionals dedicated to children's Emergency Care provision and we currently have vacancies for Paediatric Nurses within the Children's area of the Emergency Department.We can provide a proactive learning environment with access to a professional development nurse as well as many supportive in-service learning opportunities.
Main duties of the job To provide a high standard of nursing care for infants, Children and YoungPeople, within a family centred environment, in accordance with the wardphilosophy.
To provide support for junior colleagues, students, Clinical Sisters / Charge Nurses and Department Management, adhering to national and trust guidelines.
To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to take charge of anynursing shift as required.

Job description Job responsibilities Clinical To co-ordinate and provide skilled nursing care (without direct supervision) to children and young people, in accordance with responsibilities under the NMC Code of Conduct.To be competent to manage and implement the assessment, planning, delivery & evaluation of a high standard of evidence based care to a group of infants, children, young people & their families.To deliver effective discharge planning of children, liaising with other professionals and agencies as required.Promote family centred care and act as an advocate for children.Maximise opportunities for health promotion and health education for patients and their families.To provide nursing care to high dependency children during both the acute phase and when stabilised.To provide support to students and perform Mentor role or attend Mentor and Assessing Course in line with NMC standards.Provide escort in the transfer of children to other health care providers as required.Provide telephone advice for parents requesting information & support.Personal To have excellent interpersonal skills and can communicate effectively with children of all ages and stages of development.To organise own time and workload efficiently, on own initiative and as part of a team.To be a role model to all staff and support all members of the ward team.To accept responsibility for the provision of effective prevention and control within the Trust in liaison with the Trusts Infection Control Team.To act as a role model in applying good infection control practice and ensures compliance with all infection control policies.ProfessionalCo-ordinate and lead a team of nurses providing care during a clinical shift as required.Deputise for Ward Manager and Clinical Sisters in their absence.Participate in promotion and implementation of innovative practice within the ward environment.To ensure attendance and compliance with all Mandatory Training as per trust policy.Attend annual Personal Development Review (PDR) and complete a personal and professional development plan with agreed learning objectives.Attend relevant internal and external training days.Ensure Safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all time and attend training Child Protection Level 3.Strategic and Service Responsibility Promote effective working relationships with all departments.Provide advice regarding management of children in other areas throughout the trust Accident and Emergency department.Participate in shared care of children with other paediatric centres and community nursing team.GovernanceEvaluate current research findings and if appropriate implement into practice on the ward.Promote quality of care delivery and participate in the audit process at ward and trust level.Participate in the investigation of any complaints received as required.Carry out and evaluate personal research projects.Actively participate in Clinical Supervision.Adhere to Trust and National Guidelines.Health & SafetyIn accordance with the Health and Safety at work act comply with the Trusts Health and Safety policies and procedures.To take all reasonable steps to prevent injury to yourself, fellow employees and others affected by your actions or omissions at work.Reporting any defects relating to departmental equipment and any hazardous or potentially hazardous areas of work.To ensure accurate completion of clinical incident forms in accordance with Trust Policy.
Person Specification Experience Essential Higher Diploma/ Degree RSCN/ RNC/ R Children & Young Peoples Nurses Evidence of CPD Numeracy and IT skills Desirable Assessor & Mentor qualification (308CPD) or equivalent Experience Essential All paediatric nurses, including newly qualified Desirable 12 months current experience in acute Paediatrics Skills Essential Demonstrates knowledge of child development Demonstrates knowledge of evidence based practices Demonstrates understanding of clinical audit and clinical effectiveness Able to effectively plan and delegate duties Able to manage personal time effectively Demonstrates a good understanding of the concept of family centred care Evidence of wide variety of clinical skills Demonstrates thorough knowledge of child protection requirements Demonstrates knowledge of current nursing issues & NHS priorities Personal Qualities Essential Able to work as an effective team member Able to adapt to changing circumstances and demonstrates ability to influence change successfully Shows initiative: able to think positively and stimulate a productive team climate Able to achieve individual and team objectives Able to communicate at a variety of levels Other Job Requirements Essential Good work attendance record Able to work flexible shifts including night duty, weekends & bank holidays Able to change duties to meet requirements of the service
