Main duties of the job We are a supportive and encouraging department and you will be part of a solid team of paediatric nurses with different levels of experience.This will provide you with the support and camaraderie to make each day a good one.
We have a large number of band 7 nurses working directly within the department as well as a dedicated practice development team which work wholly on enabling you to develop your skills and experiences and facilitate further learning and training.We receive a wide variety of emergency patients, including trauma and medical/surgical admissions and it is exciting to say that our Children's Emergency Department provides an independent Paediatric Emergency Nurse Practitioner led service and outpatient clinic that runs 7 days a week.

Job description Job responsibilities Initiate, evaluate and maintain a high standard of care, ensuring that it is evidence bases and compliant with best practice recommendations for childrens hospital services.Ensure that care is family centered, sensitive and responsive to the needs of the children and their familiesParticipate in providing the means for children and their families to comment on the standard of care delivered, and ensure a qualitative response from the Childrens ED team to aspects of care identified as in need of improvement.To be aware of new polices and guidelines in place and ensure they are adhered to.Actively contribute to research and audit within the department to improve patient care.To be an effective role model in provision of high standards of careDemonstrate independence in clinical decision making, acting a source of advice to junior Please see the Job Description for a full overview the Band 6 Children's Emergency Department role.RN Candidates with relevant ED experience may be considered on application.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential RSCN/RN qualification 2 years acute paediatric nursing experience Desirable Experience in emergency department / PAU Qualifications Essential MIPS/ 998 or equivilant Desirable Expereince mentoring Students Qualifications Essential willingness to complete APLS/EPLS Desirable APLS/EPLS qualification
