Senior Detail Designer - Outfit Client : BAE Systems Location: Scotstoun, Glasgow Duration: 12 months Rate : £30.80 per hour PAYE or £40.64 Umbrella Working Arrangements: Expectation is 2 days on site per week as a minimum Join BAE Systems, a leader in advanced defense technology, as a Senior Detail Designer specializing in Outfit Design for Naval Ships.
Youll be a key contributor to groundbreaking shipbuilding projects, including cutting-edge frigate designs, ensuring excellence in every detail.
What You'll Do: Lead a team of designers, providing mentorship and guidance while maintaining high technical standards.
Develop and check complex design solutions using advanced CAD tools, ensuring quality and precision in all outputs.
Collaborate closely with engineering, production, and wider project teams to deliver optimized solutions.
Act as a deputy for the Principal Detail Designer, attending management meetings and overseeing team performance.
Support internal and external audits while driving process improvements within the design lifecycle.
What Youll Bring: Proven experience in detailed design within defense or a related industry, particularly in naval shipbuilding.
Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, FORAN, or AVEVA).
Strong understanding of outfit design principles, including spatial integration and production outputs.
Leadership skills with a commitment to mentoring early-career team members.
HNC/HND qualification in engineering or related fields; membership with a relevant professional body is preferred.
