The role: We're looking for an experienced Ornithologist to join our internationally renowned client, based out of Belfast.  This is a unique opportunity to work on high-impact projects in energy, infrastructure, residential, renewables, marine, and even international projects while playing a key part in driving forward this powerhouse consultancy's ornithology offering.

What you'll be doing: Shaping the future of the regional team in terms of structure, technical specialism, and quality of service.  Encouraging and supporting use of a generous training and development allowance to develop individual and Team goals.
Leading and mentoring a growing team Influencing and shaping staff development, work streams and expanding the customer base.
Providing technical leadership for a range of projects, including technical review of documents, provision of technical advice to clients, liaising with consultees, and producing EcIA and HRA reports.
Assessing, co-ordinating and contributing to tender opportunities as required.
Engaging teams through regular meetings to plan and deliver workloads  Prioritising Health, Safety and Wellbeing for yourself and your team About you: Our ideal candidate for this role will have: 10+ years experience as an Ornithologist / Ecologist with Ornithology specialism, with appropriate qualification and CIEEM membership Detailed knowledge of the technical assessments underpinning ornithological work in large development projects and through the EIA and HRA processes.
Experience supporting clients through devising and delivering survey programmes, developing mitigation, gaining agreement of regulators, and supervising implementation on-site.
Experience undertaking impact assessment in relation to bird populations on and off site for a variety of projects across multiple sectors.
Project management, leadership, fee proposal and tender experience (work winning from commercial clients highly desirable)  Line management and mentoring experience desirable - excellent training and support can be given to prepare you for this next step!  Full right to live and work in the UK Some of these expectations will vary depending on grade, so if you don't quite meet all of these requirements, please feel free to get in touch to discuss further!
