Job summary We have an exciting opportunity within the departments of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Restorative Dentistry and Orthodontics.
The team treat a diverse range of patients referred from multiple specialties, designing, manufacturing and fitting custom-made maxillofacial prostheses on our dedicated patient clinics.
Consideration would also be given to a developmental position, starting at Band 7.
Main duties of the job The successful applicant will be competent in all areas of Maxillofacial Prosthetics and a knowledge of Restorative and Orthodontic appliances.
Ability to be able to work autonomously to provide a high level of service to our patients and service users is required.Applicants should be able to provide evidence of experience in the custom manufacture of facial prostheses and the ability to undertake complex orthognathic surgical planning.
Previous experience of and understanding of 3D surgical planning of head and neck reconstruction and 3D orthognathic surgical planning is desirable.
About us The OMFS Department manages a wide variety of pathology ranging from general OMFS issues to complex problems for which we offer many dedicated specialist clinics.
Our Head and Neck service is run in close association with the ENT and plastic surgery teams, and we have a complete Head and Neck MDT that runs jointly with the Exeter team to discuss all new patients.
Major head and neck surgery is provided by the Torbay team but performed in Exeter, and patients are then transferred back to Torbay for ongoing care and surveillance.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Qualified Dental Technician holding B/Tec National Diploma in Dental Technology (or equivalent) as recognised by the GDC Advanced Level Dental Technology Qualification as recognised by the GDC (C&G Advanced Certificate, LCGI, HNC or BSc) through further study to masters level, or equivalent experience.
Current registration with the GDC as a Dental Technician Desirable IMPT (Institute of Maxillofacial Prosthetics and Technologists) Membership Knowledge and experience Essential Knowledge and experience of a wide range of specialised technical procedures (OMFS, Orthodontic and Restorative Dentistry) Evidence of continuing professional development Management experience Desirable IT competency Knowledge of Medical Devices Directive.
