We have a passion for using technology to solve business problems, working in partnership with our clients to help in achieving their goals.About the role:The ideal candidate will have experience in maintaining Oracle and SQL estates for our clients and will provide expert knowledge and guidance to other team members on critical issues.
It would be advantageous to have experience in setting up and monitoring the performance of a large-scale environment with potentially numerous instances.Our DBA will be part of our Managed Services team and will be responsible for providing database administration services to various clients: Supporting the entire application development to Database Management process.
Ensuring the availability of client databases.
Here's what the role looks like: Installation, configuration and upgrading of Oracle Software SQL Server Databases and related products according to established best practices.
Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures to ensure business continuity in a DR situation.
Plan growth and changes (capacity planning) while working as part of a team and provide 7x24 support when required to ensure database availability and scalability.
Perform general technical trouble shooting and proffer solutions to development teams, project teams and business analysts Patch Management and Version Control including Interfacing with Vendors (Oracle, Microsoft etc.)
to prevent security breaches and keep software up to date.
Setup and maintain documentation and technical guides to ensure standardisation across systems and databases.
RequirementsHere are the key skills and experience relevant to this role: • In depth understanding of the Oracle database, SQL Server databases, related utilities and tools• Sufficient Understanding of Database concepts to be able to implement different RDBMS technologies.• Good understanding of the operating systems; Windows and Unix• Knowledge of Oracle and SQL Server backup and recovery scenarios• Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines• Experience in database change management and data management through the various stages of the development life cycle• Presentation/Communication Skills• Oracle Certified or MCP CertifiedBenefitsAt Sword, our core values and culture are based on caring about our people, investing in training and career development and building inclusive teams where we are all encouraged to contribute to achieve success.
