Job summary Closing Date: (this may change dependent on response) Shortlisting to take place after closing date: commencing Interview expected to take place in the week following shortlisting: commencing This is an exciting opportunity to join the friendly optometry team at Bradford Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust.
The Optometry Service supports the Ophthalmology Department and includes a wide range of both core optometry and extended role co-management clinics.
The extended roles include the independent assessment and co-management of patients in the following areas: glaucoma, cataract, diabetic eye disease, macula diseases, cornea and acute referral.
Core optometry services, include Paediatric refraction and corneal topography.
Main duties of the job This role will include both core and extended role optometry clinics, the exact details will depend on the current demands of the service and may change over time.
We are looking for a highly motivated, and enthusiastic individual who is able to work as part of a wider team in the delivery of a range of comprehensive optometric services.
Training will be provided, but applicants with previous hospital experience and expert knowledge base in Ophthalmology will be preferred.

Person Specification Experience Essential Relevant practical experience gained over significant period of time Desirable Previous eye hospital experience including specialist clinics Skills Essential Good verbal and written command of English Effective listening, communication and interpersonal skills, with particularly good, sympathetic manner with patients Ability to work as a team Qualifications Essential BSc(Hons) Optometry GOC registered A willingness to undergo training to carry out the job including advanced clinical practitioner skills and decision making Desirable Independent Prescriber Professional post-graduate specialist qualification(s) relevant to job plan ( College of Optometrists higher diplomas)
