This role sits within Supply Chain Operations (SCO), an area of the business which supplies and delivers the logistics, materials, components, rail and road fleet that enable the maintenance and renewal of the railway.SCO keeps the materials, machinery and components required by its customers moving – making sure they are on-site when needed so work can go ahead as planned and on schedule.Supply Chain Operations 24/7SCO24:7 (Supply Chain Operations 24/7) is a dedicated control centre providing 24/7 real-time monitoring, management, and reporting of critical supply chain activities across the railway network.
Our core functions include breakdown and recovery operations, engineering haulage, on-track machine coordination, infrastructure monitoring, and directly operated fleet management.
We also support lone worker safety through monitoring systems, fatigue exceedances and manage seasonal treatment programs to maintain network resilience.
By delivering these comprehensive services around the clock, we ensure operational continuity, quick incident response, and enhanced safety and efficiency across the rail supply chain.About the role (External)You will manage the real time SCO 24:7 environment to meet the needs of the business and customers.
Maintain and develop relationships with customers, suppliers and SCO colleagues to optimise the delivery of specific products and services.Key Accountabilities1.Manage the real time delivery of the SCO 24:7 environment to achieve business, functional and commercial objectives.
Meet key internal & external performance measures.2.Provide an industry focus within the SCO 24:7 environments to maintain the optimum balance between product and service delivery is maintained.3.Lead the SCO 24:7 team in the dissemination of information.
Maintain a system of recording operational, safety, performance and commercial data in accordance with the relevant company standards and procedures.4.Manage the delivery of contingency plans in times of disruption, to minimise delays, shortfalls and cancellations to the customers.5.Undertake the lead in the management of any accident or incident to provide the correct level of response to the event and checking that information is captured in a timely manner.6.Manage all safety of the line events involving SCO employees and assets whilst maintaining clear communication at all relevant levels within the affected organisations.7.Contribute to the development and maintenance of up to date operational and safety policies and procedures, relating to service delivery, operations and personnel.
8.Manage the security and integrity of commercially sensitive data and documentation.
Maintaining accuracy in the dissemination of information to the satisfaction of customers and in accordance with the company security policies.Job Skills, Experience and QualificationsEssential·Experience of leading teams within a logistics or operations environment·Experience of managing staff, including those not directly reporting to the post holder·Strong leadership style, customer focused people manager with highly developed communication skills·Ability to influence decision making, able to manage conflict & works well in a pressurised environment·Commercially astute, persuasive and has sufficient knowledge of the SCO Products & Services to deliver customer satisfaction·Good negotiating skills and ability to make objective decisions that are right for the business at the right time·Analytical thinking and ability to write comprehensive and accurate reports.Desirable·Previous experience of working within a pressurised communications environment·Excellent geographical knowledge of NR infrastructure.·An understanding of the operational railway
