The project: A large defence capital works programme which, over 15 years, will contribute to the upgrade of the UK's strategic defence capability. Mace (in partnership with the client and other industry organisations) will establish and subsequently manage the programme management organisation overseeing the delivery of numerous complex and varied capital works projects.

This includes developing and implementing logistics strategies, policies, and procedures and monitoring and reporting on the performance of the function. Additionally, the Logistics Operations Manager is responsible for maintaining accurate records and reports, as well as providing and ensuring client satisfaction, and maintaining high-level stakeholder relationships and identifying potential opportunities for growth. The role holder will be part of the logistics team and manage the logistics function in enabling and delivering the construction activity. In time, the scope of the role will include the delivery of Materials, People, and Site enabling logistics operations. Due to the strict security requirements, candidates must be a UK National and will need to progress through security clearance.
You'll be responsible for: Oversee daily operations in the logistics department.Oversee and ensure deliverables set out in the logistics programme.Develop and implement operational policies and procedures.Manage relationships with stakeholders.Coordinate with other functions.Lead, mentor, and develop the logistics team.Manage operational budgets and monitor expenses.Implement strategies to improve operational efficiency.Implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance performance and productivity.Coordination of the programme's logistics scope.Drive the delivery of the contract or package activities to ensure they are delivered safely on time, to budget, meeting business and technical requirements. Monitor and manage the progress of the programme - track progress against milestones, deadlines, budget and provide key stakeholders with reports on these matters.Anticipate, manage, and resolve issues within the contract or package. Identify risks and facilitate the resolution of all issues raised, develop, and update the programme budget, and escalate any issues.Manage staff responsible for the day-to-day operation of logistics.Monitor appropriate sections of the budget(s). Review Budget vs. Actual expenditure reports.Report of performance metrics.You'll need to have: Demonstrate success in managing / developing:Engineering design, contract, and field execution strategies for project delivery.Multi-discipline projects.Procurement and management of complex contracts.Control of costs; risk; schedule and change and proficient in the use of Earned Value tools.Close out of commercial claims and the associated negotiations.Creation and implementation of a logistics strategy.Experience of successfully engaging groups of stakeholders up to board level.Able to demonstrate strong leadership and management skills including project management, financial management, change management, and facilitation. Proficient in the use of estimating scheduling, programming, and risk tools.Experience of managing contractors, consultants, and other advisors throughout large and complex construction projects, in a regulated environment.Good presentation, influencing, and facilitation skills. Excellent communication and organisational skills, able to develop relationships and maintain effective networks.Strong numerical and analytical skills.Passion driven - Aligned to vision and programme ideology.Leadership - Inspire, motivate, and empower others.
