Operational Technology Engineer (OT) Utilities Hybrid: remote working and some travel to site 6 months £425 per day In short: Were looking for an OT Engineer to join a large CNI utilities business in overseeing OT engineering and design.
The right candidate will have real world, site experience of OT, PLCs, IO, Instrumentation.
In full: Overview As a Controls & Instrumentation Project Engineer you will be responsible for developing systems and preparing control and instrument deliverables based on process specifications across the full project and product life-cycle.
This includes the development of designs and schematics, selection of components, development of all software aspects of the systems, selection of instrumentation, sub-contract support and installation and commissioning of control system upgrades and software updates.
You will create detailed specifications, instrument lists, IO schedules, cable schedules, cable block diagrams, termination drawings, hook-up drawings, layout drawings and test procedures.
You will be highly motivated, able to work independently, and have demonstrable leadership qualities.
You will be confident in your own ability to deliver the project on time and within budget.
You will be an experienced C&I engineer who can identify with the majority of the following criteria.
Good knowledge of the C&I related British and international standards; Full C&I project life cycle experience; Experience in preparation, or reviewing full C&I project documentation including functional specifications, wiring/loop diagrams, P&IDs and test procedures; An understanding of programmable logic controllers (PLC) including both hardware and software; An understanding of industrial communication networks and its protocols including Profibus, Profinet, Modbus TCP The ability to specify, install and commission instrumentation; A knowledge of ATEX - Ex instrumentation, devices, and its installation requirements; The ability to produce technical reports, and able to clearly explain complex technical C&I related issues; The ability to push and justify the design changes to meet good practice and client requirements The ability and willingness to travel worldwide to participate in meetings, completing factory acceptance tests (FAT) with vendors, site acceptance tests (SAT), and conduct inspections/audits; Monitoring of all on-site activities including installation, commissioning, and site acceptance testing (SAT) Mentoring and support less experienced engineers The ability to innovate, think laterally and implement processes The ability to communicate clearly and engage with fellow professionals as part of a team and otherwise Share knowledge & experience within the team and broader where appropriate.
To be technically astute and conversant with the latest advances in technology Qualifications & Relevant Experience Essential: SUEPEE & Intrinsic Safety Training Gained good experience of Control and instrumentation engineering Possess a full UK driving Desirable: Relevant training in relevant control systems & HMIs (e.g.
Rockwell, DeltaV, Wonderware, Siemens) Have previous site works experience Be highly organised with attention to detail Be results focused and have the ability to meet commitments & deadlines Candidates will ideally show evidence of the above in their CV in order to be considered.
