Job summary Outpatient Network is currently seeking Operating Department Practitioners specialising in ENT Surgery to join weekend insourcing in University Hospital Shrewsbury & Telford Main duties of the job Assist in ENT surgeries: Provide direct support to the ENT surgical team during a variety of operations, including but not limited to tonsillectomies, septoplasties, ear surgeries (, tympanoplasties), and head & neck procedures.Preparation of the Operating Theatre: Ensure the theatre is set up correctly for each procedure, including preparing and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment, and ensuring patient safety throughout the surgical process.Patient Safety and Support: Maintain a safe, clean, and sterile environment, adhering to infection control protocols.
Support the anaesthesia team with patient positioning, monitoring, and any necessary interventions.Instrument Handling: Provide the surgeon with the appropriate instruments during the procedure, ensuring quick, efficient, and accurate delivery.Assist with Patient Recovery: Support the recovery process post-surgery by monitoring patients in the recovery room, ensuring they are stable and providing appropriate post-operative care.Maintain Surgical Records: Accurately record surgical notes and ensure all patient documentation is completed in line with hospital protocols and legal requirements.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Registered ODP with HCPC.
Desirable Experience in ENT surgery is preferred, but not essential.
