Specialist one to one study skills support tutor Cardiff
Are you looking to provide one to one support to students to help them achieve higher in their academics?Randstad Student Support are recruiting for Specialist-one-to-one Study Skills Support Workers to work with students who have specific learning difficulties (SpLDs) studying at Universities and/or Colleges in Cardiff.The role is set to begin at the start of the new academic year (from 1st September 2024) and is a hybrid role.
All successful candidates must be able to travel to the local University or college and offer both in person and online sessions flexibly to meet student preferences.
As a Specialist-one-to-one Study Skills Support Worker, your role involves providing personalised academic support and guidance.
You will develop a customised learning plan designed to meet the specific needs of the student, fostering their independence in learning.
As a Specialist-one-to-one Study Skills Support Worker, you are required to support students to:
Develop independenceBuild on strengths and learning strategiesCreate strategies around organisation and time managementCreate action plans to stay on track with studiesBuild on research skills - widening knowledge by using a variety of sourcesDistinguish appropriate sources and how to correctly use referencesBuild on comprehension skills within reading and writingWhilst working for Randstad the needs of individual students should be taken into consideration case by case and you should ensure that any concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
It is expected that you would act professionally and maintain confidentiality within your role at all times, sharing all relevant information with Randstad to ensure the best possible service to your students.
Requirements for the role:
As this is a specialist role, you must hold membership with one of the below relevant professional bodies.
All students you will be supporting are funded by the Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) meaning all candidates providing this role must adhere to the qualification framework set out by the DfEBritish Dyslexia Association (BDA)Professional Membership The Association of Dyslexia (ADSHE)Dyslexia GuildThe Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS)You can find a list of all accepted memberships here (pages 17) along with the required membership level.Desirable skills include:Experience of working with clients with specific learning difficultiesExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to identify ways of helping students to build on their learning strengths whilst maintaining a confidential and professional working relationshipPunctuality and reliabilityGood organisational skillsAbility to manage a caseload of students
