Job summary We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated Pharmacy Assistant to join our Oncology Pharmacy High Cost Drugs (HCD) Team as we implement a new, oncology specific homecare service.
The post will be based at the Kent Oncology Centre, Maidstone Hospital.
This is a progression role with the opportunity to develop your skills and practice in parallel with the service.
Main duties of the job You will work closely with the Lead Oncology Homecare Pharmacy Technician, Principal Oncology HCD Pharmacist, Cancer Services Division and wider Trust HCD Pharmacy will be responsible for coordinating and supporting the daily delivery of the Oncology Homecare service, engaging with Clinicians, Non-medical Prescribers and other healthcare professionals to ensure all the relevant paperwork, funding or any other requirements are in place for service delivery in accordance with the Hackett Report (Homecare Medicines "Towards a vision for the future").You will liaise with patients and/or their designated representatives and external homecare providers and be the first point of contact in relation to any queries.
You must be highly self-motivated, able to demonstrate initiative and have the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in order to deliver safe and efficient services to our role will also involve supporting other activities undertaken by the Oncology Pharmacy HCD team where an informal discussion about the role please contact Jerry Herring - Lead Pharmacy Technician - Homecare & Tariff Excluded Oncology () Please note that this role may often attract a high level of applications.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential GCSE Maths & English at Grade C or above Working towards/willingness to undertake NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Services Desirable NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Services Experience Essential Experience in Hospital Pharmacy Working knowledge of Wellsky system Customer Service Desirable Basic understanding of the Hackett report (Homecare Medicines) Prior experience in oncology Previous use of an e-prescribing platform Skills Essential Good command of the English language Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to plan, prioritise and organise workload and refer any issues as appropriate Excellent work processing and IT skills, including Excel Desirable Formal Excel training at any level
