Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen within the in patient therapy team at QEQM!
We are looking for a band 6 Occupational Therapist with a passion for working in Trauma and Orthopaedics.
This is a permanent post and working part time ( hours / week)You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team across the Trauma and Orthopaedic wards and will be part of a team consisting of band 7 OTs and Physios, band 6 OTs and Physios, band 5s, 4s and 3s.We offer vast opportunities for CPD and learning across the Trauma and Orthopaedic Team and also regular supervision.
Upon joining us we will support you with your progression (and can also offer a developmental post from a band 5 to a 6) both clinically and with leadership skills.
Main duties of the job Assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of holistic therapy intervention for patients on the Trauma and Orthopaedic wards.
To be an integral part in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients within Orthopaedics and working closely with the physiotherapistsYou will need to be able to work independently and be able to delegate appropriately to band 4 assistant practitioners.You will contribute to the development of the service and be involved in supporting staff through the appraisal process.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential BSc Occupational Therapist HCPC Registration Desirable Member of COT skills Essential Highly developed clinical skills in Trauma and Orthopaedics Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent organisational skills Excellent time management Desirable Evidence of working within acute inpatient setting Competent presentation skills Experience Essential 18 months post graduate experience in relevant specialist area of Inpatients, general rotations Proven record of providing high quality intervention for high risk patients Experience working within a fast pace setting Desirable Experience working within acute inpatient setting Experience managing challenging situations Knowledge Essential Awareness of professional issues and recent developments in the NHS and Primary Care including Clinical Governance, NICE and CQC Knowledge of up to date clinical / evidenced based practice Knowledge of discharge pathways Desirable Experience providing complex assessments and discharge planning Experience using appropriate outcome measures linked to the assessment of orthopaedic patients Knowledge of extended role of Occupational Therapy within discharge pathways
