Job summary An opportunity has arisen for a Occupational Therapist to join the occupational therapy rotation in central Lancashire, which is a well established rotation post with variety of learning opportunities.
The rotation offers the opportunity to undertake occupational therapy in acute mental health, forensic services, and community mental health.You will be involved in the maintenance and delivery of Occupational Therapy Services across the rust including the coordination, implementation of tailored specific treatment programmes for your own caseload.
There are excellent facilities - ranging from ward based involvement, to a custom built therapeutic resources centre (with a range of facilities including a sports hall and gym), a vocational rehabilitation facility a social centre, as well as accessing the community, and community based interventions within CMHT.Lancashire and South Cumbria Care NHS Foundation Trust is a Community and Mental Health Trust whose services include mental health and substance misuse services to the residents of Lancashire and South Cumbria.
The Trust also provides low and medium secure care and forensic services.Secure Mental Health Care for Lancashire and South Cumbria is provided at Guild Lodge, Whittingham.
The service has steadily expanded from it's inception in 1999 and currently has a range of inpatient and community services including 164 beds.
Main duties of the job Please note: A means of transport is essential and applicants must be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS Clearance as part of the pre-employment checks.To provide an occupational therapy service to those accessing mental health services across Lancashire and south Cumbria Foundation Trust.
The post is a rotational post, whereby the post holder rotates to a new area of practice every 12 months, ranging from inpatient acute mental health services to forensic mental health.As part of the Occupational Therapy Service the job holder will be required to work in a variety of clinical areas with an allocated case load.The post holder will supervised to develop their understanding of the relationship between occupation, mental and physical health, to provide occupational therapy utilising assessment from the Model of Human Occupation and C-MOPE.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Diploma/BSc//MSc in Occupational Therapy (OT) Ongoing registration with Health Professionals Council.
Knowledge Essential Some knowledge of current best practice in OT (including secure mental health services).
Understanding of professional ethics and their application in practice Understanding of team dynamics Basic knowledge of health legislation and current practice, including CPA and risk assessment and management Basic knowledge of the principles of clinical governance Health, safety and risk awareness.
Experience Essential Application of the Occupational Therapy process.
Broad range of under graduate practice placement experience Use of functional assessment and the analysis of occupation.
Positive learning from experience gained in mental health setting pre or post qualification Skills Essential Group work skills Ability to work single-handedly with individuals and groups Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance Effective written and oral communication skills Computer literacy Special requirements Essential Commitment to client centred, non-discriminatory practice.
