Job summary Working Part time : 30 hours per weekAn exciting opportunity has arisen.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard working and friendly team member to cover maternity leave within our brand new Paediatric Outpatients Department as a Band 3 Nursing Assistant.
Main duties of the job The post involves assisting the nursing staff in the delivery of care to children and their families in the hospital outpatient setting.
We would expect you to accurately record, collate, monitor and provide feedback of patient information to nursing and/or medical staff, initiating actions as necessary.The post holder must have excellent interpersonal skills, be empathetic, self-motivated, both proactive and work as part of a team, and able to develop practical skills such as phlebotomy.
It is essential to have a holistic view to patient care.The successful applicant must have NVQ III or equivalent, or currently working towards this, previous experience of working in a caring background, is able to demonstrate good communication and organisational skills, plus the ability to work as part of a team.
About us The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services to West Cheshire and to Welsh patients covered by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.
The Trust works collaboratively within the wider Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership.
Its services are provided from three locations: The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 438 general and acute bedsEllesmere Port Hospital: providing 56 beds as a rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient facilityTarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services which serve the local rural population.
The Trust employs over 6258 staff (headcount) which includes temporary bank staff and provides acute emergency and elective services, primary care direct access services and obstetric services to a population of approximately 407,000.
This includes 357,000 residents in Chester and West Cheshire which includes Ellesmere Port and Neston as well as the Deeside area of Flintshire which has a population of approximately 50,000.The Trust is a busy district general hospital and in 2022/2023, there were more than 503,342 patient attendances (inpatient, outpatient and diagnostic) ranging from a simple outpatient appointment to major cancer surgery.
This is an increase of nearly 10,000 compared to the previous year when there were 494,387 patient attendances.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential NVQ Level 2 or equivalent NVQ Level 3 or equivalent or working towards Numeracy & Literacy skills Desirable Phlebotomy skills Knowledge Essential Provide evidence of achieved competency in key clinical skills Have an understanding of NHS Services Basic IT skills Basic understanding of NHS issues Previous experience of maintaining accurate records and working as part of a team Desirable Understanding of quality & change in the clinical setting Expectation that the Care certificate qualification will need to be completed within 6 months of starting if not already attained.
Willingness to complete ward based Band 3 training competencies Previous experience of working with children.
