Job summary Are you a Registered Adult Nurse or Midwife who is passionate about reproductive healthcare?We're looking for a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner to join the clinical team within our Bournemouth unit.
You'll work 16 hours per week, every Tuesday & Wednesday.BPAS Bournemouth delivers a full range of reproductive healthcare services including surgical procedures under conscious sedation & general anaesthetic.
A large & busy unit, it offers a friendly supportive team environment.About the roleAs a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner you'll provide high quality clinical care to our clients across a range of BPAS reproductive healthcare services including termination of pregnancy, STI testing & treatment, contraception & vasectomy.
You'll be involved in all stages of the client pathway from consultation through to treatment & will work in all areas of the unit including theatre & recovery.
This role will involve providing treatment & clinical information to clients both in person & over the phone.About YouYou'll be a Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or Midwife (practising) with active NMC registration & PIN.
You'll have clinical practice experience of at least 12 months & have a keen interest in sexual health & reproductive healthcare.
Clinical knowledge & experience of safeguarding & Fraser/Gillick competencies are essential for this role.You'll have excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills and you will be adept at caring for clients in a compassionate & empathetic way.
Main duties of the job You will work in accordance with NMC guidelines for Professional Practice & the wider regulatory frameworks of the Abortion Act 1967 & Health & Social Care Act as well as BPAS clinical policies and procedures.Ensure that the clientunderstands her options in relation to the pregnancy &, if choosingtermination, meets the ground of the Abortion Act.Provide informationon STI Testing, undertake tests and provide results and also discuss, informand confirm the clients future choice of contraception.Carefully check forand implement any procedure indicated on client case notes, includingadministering medication for Medical Abortion procedures or cervicalpreparation.Carry out posttreatment check-ups by assessing the physical condition of the client anddiscussing any concernsComplete relevantpaperwork and in the event of post treatment problems, make arrangements withthe clinic or refer to an NHS agency if necessary.To care for and support clients undergoing surgical treatments.
Thiscould include general anaesthetic, conscious sedation or local anaesthetic.We are also looking for:Sound & accurateadministrative competence with attention to detailGynaecological nursing experience or relevant specialty , sexualhealth, contraceptionVenepuncture / cannulationskillsComfortable using IT and Microsoft Packages including Outlook, Word and Microsoft Teams.
