Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Nurse Associate to join our experienced and friendly nursing team.We are looking for a motivated, friendly and committed team member to support the nursing team in the delivery of patient centered health care, which will include a range of long-term conditions, immunisation and vaccination, health promotion and screening.
Main duties of the job The main duties of the role will include but not limited to:Be competent in phlebotomy, health checks and routine monitoringUndertake NHS immunisation programmeSupport chronic disease managementMaintain practice stock and suppliesChaperone and assist patient where appropriateParticipate in practice QOF, quality contract and DES requirements About us Washway Road is a large, busy yet caring General Practice.

We will support the right applicant to expand their skills cervical sample taking Job description Job responsibilities The successful candidate will supportthe nursing team in the delivery of patient centred health care, which willinclude a range of long-term conditions, immunisation and vaccination, healthpromotion and screening.CORERESPONSIBILITIES Thefollowing are the core responsibilities of the Nursing Associate.
The NursingAssociate will work within their scope of clinical practice and the Nursing andMidwifery Council (NMC) code, supported by supervision from a Senior Nurse,and: Carry out Chronic Disease Management annual reviews such as Diabetes, Asthmaand COPD delegated by a supervising Nurse or senior colleague.
Annual reviewsinclude phlebotomy.
Monitor and support the lead nurse with the management of patients withlong-term conditions / chronic diseases, using a holistic patient centredapproachAssist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed bysenior nursing staff and GPs Be able to take vital signs and observations and identify signs of improvement,report any deteriorations or concerns, pulse, blood pressure,respirations, oxygen saturations, peak flow, blood glucose levelsAdminister medications as prescribed and in accordance with NMC Standards, via nebuliser or injections using sub-cutaneous or intramuscular route underPatient Specific Directions Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to practice nurse(s) or GPsas appropriate assist in the assessment, planning, development, implementationand evaluation of programmes to promote health and well-being and preventadverse effects on health and well-being such as weight management and smokingcessation.Deliver opportunistic health promotion using opportunities such as new-patientmedicals and NHS Health Checks.Document Consultations accurately and appropriately, according to NMCguidelines Ensure awareness of statutory and local clinical adult and childrensafeguarding protection procedures, including systems of referral.
Ability torecognise signs and symptoms of abuse/neglect Ensure all mandatory training is completedon an annual basis including; safeguarding, confidentiality, Equality +Diversity etc.
Recognise and manage anaphylaxis accordingto current UK guidelines.
Be able to perform Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation according to current UKguidelines.
Obtain and document informed consent (eitherverbal or written), as required.
Ensure infection prevention and control guidelines are maintained.
Chaperone and assist patients, where appropriate, who are being examined byanother clinicianAssist GPs, with minor surgery and family planning clinics Undertake pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs Ensureconfidentially of information gained at work is preserved at all times.
Assist in practice audits, CQC compliance evidence and QOF recalls.
Participate and contribute towards any local incentive project relevant to therole.Additional tasks following training andsupport may include: Cytology Vaccinations ( travel, influenza, child imms etc.)
Providing assessment,screening and treatment services and health education advice.SpirometrySupplies and equipment Maintain stock of treatment rooms and order clinicalitems as required such as swabs, testkits and phlebotomy supplies.
Ability to monitor and manage maintenance of stock and equipment to includerefrigeration and emergency equipmentPersonal/ProfessionalDevelopment: The post-holder will: Maintain and develop professional development and education either virtually orby attendance at courses and study days as deemed useful or necessary for theneeds of the service Participate in an annual individual performance review, including takingresponsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professionaldevelopment Take responsibility for own development, learning and performance anddemonstrating skills and activities to others who are undertaking similar work Person Specification Experience Essential Experience of working within general practice Experience working within a nursing team Experience in partaking in reflective practice Experience managing routine and unpredictable workload Desirable A desire to expand existing skill set and continued professional development Qualifications Essential Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC Register Nursing Associate foundation degree qualification Desirable Chronic disease management experience Interest in becoming a cervical sample taker (if not already)
