Job summary St Margaret's Hospice has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our Advice Line team.
You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a salary of £32,413 per annum plus 18% unsocial hours enhancement.Taking calls from a variety of sources,you will play a vital role in supporting patients and their families in Somerset.The advice line service operates over seven days, with shift patterns of 7am - 3pm, 9am - 5pm and 4pm midnight.This role can be based at either Taunton or Yeovil.
There may also be an opportunity for remote working, dependent on home location and IT set up, following induction and completion of the agreed probation period.
Main duties of the job Making the time to care and listen to callers is at the heart of what we do in the Advice Line.
Our aim is to support patients to stay in their own homes for as long as possible, helping to enhance their indepence and quality of life.Your day to day work will include:Triaging calls to provide essential end-of-life care and symptom control to those suffering with life limiting illnesses within their own homes Providing tailored advice to patients and their families, helping them to navigate available support and signposting to the most appropriate services for their needs.
Visiting patients within their own home.
Working alongside advice line colleagues, community nurse specialists and other members of the multidisciplinary team.We support patients and carers who are based within the Somerset area and are registered with a Somerset GP.
Calls are received from a variety of sources, including health care professionals, and can be for symptom control management, emotional or psychological and carer support.

You will be visiting patients within their own homes and covering the advice line.
Shift pattern includes 7 -3, 9 -5, 16-24.
This incorporates 7-day working.
Providing appropriate clinical and non-clinical palliative care advice and support for patients, carers and health care professionals, within the boundaries of the service.
To provide advice and information to patients and carers with the aim of maintaining patients in their own homes and enabling them to enjoy maximum independence and optimum quality of life, in their preferred place of care.
Provide specialist palliative nursing care for patients that is patient centred, holistic and quality driven.
Provide appropriate support and advice for families and carers working alongside the inpatient and/or community multidisciplinary team.
Internet needs to have the ability to support multi electronic health system ie EMIS, RIO, Sider, Systemone, Mitel.
If remote working from own home, ensure personal internet/connectivity, not a shared system.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential RN1 registered with NMC with valid pin Desirable Diploma/Degree in Health Studies.
Specialist Palliative Care qualification - ENB 931, ENB 285 or equivalent working towards Diploma / Degree in Palliative Care.
Teaching qualification.
