An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Data Manager to join the Neuroscience Research Unit at Cardiff and Vale UHB.

To ensure that appropriate data collection and monitoring systems are developed and maintained within the Neuroscience Research Unit.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

Responsibility for day-to-day management of procedural and financial data associated with the research unit. To produce accurate and timely reports to assist in monitoring of research activity, invoicing and expenditure against clinical trial activity. To act as a point of liaison with internal and external agencies in respect of a variety of standard and adhoc reports. To develop, maintain and improve data collection systems and reporting tools within the Neurosciences Research Unit in line with required standards.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Educated to degree level or equivalent experience. Desirable Recognised IT qualification e.g. ECDL. Experience Essential Relevant experience in a data collection/analysis environment. Production of accurate, complex reports to strict deadlines. Experience within an information role. Ability for excellent team working with a variety of professionals. Desirable Knowledge of principles of general management. Experience in the NHS clinical or research sector to include NHS IT. Skills Essential Experience in Microsoft Outlook, PMS, Oracle, Clinical Workstation, Clinical Portal. Verbal & written communication skills along with excellent organisational skills. Desirable IT networking skills. System debugging skills. Special Knowledge Essential Competent in the use of IM&T tools & techniques. Knowledge of Microsoft Operating systems & Office programs. Extensive knowledge & first-hand experience of design & maintenance of complex database systems. Knowledge of GDPR. Desirable Understanding of GCP requirements. Personal Qualities Essential Evidence of continuous professional development & acquiring new skills/knowledge. Motivated & committed. Ability to work as part of a team. Effective interpersonal skills. Flexible & able to meet deadlines. Able to maintain strict confidentiality in a sensitive clinical area. Desirable Prepared to undertake new challenges. Insight into quality & care for patients. Other Essential Able to communicate clearly with staff at all levels in both internal & external agencies, & patients/carers. Innovative & persuasive.
